Denis Naughten specialises in translating complex scientific and technological advancements into clear, actionable policy recommendations and real-world applications for decision-makers. 

Having served in Parliament for over 27 years and as an Irish Cabinet Minister at the Council of the EU, Denis has engaged at the highest levels in global and EU negotiations on technically complex fields, including climate, energy, environment, telecommunications, and natural resources. He chaired the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Working Group on Science and Technology (2022-24), leading the global parliamentary adoption of an ethical charter for new technological innovations. He represented parliamentarians at the United Nations and other scientific platforms, contributing to discussions on science, technology, and the Global Digital Compact.

Holding an MSc in Science and Health Communications, Denis authored the IPU's global mapping report on parliamentary support services for science engagement, and he published the first global toolbox on parliamentary engagement with the scientific community. Denis co-chaired the IPU Science for Peace Schools, launched in 2022 with CERN, to bridge the worlds of science and politics in conflict regions, and he led the development of the 2025 Science for Peace Schools programme on the ethical challenges presented by AI.

Denis Naughten now works as a consultant with the scientific and research community, industry, and policy brokers to ensure that innovations are effectively communicated and applied within government, the public sector, and society. He supports decision-makers by converting complex data and research into concise, compelling, and practical policy solutions that address political, economic, and social challenges.
