Augusto Santos Silva is currently Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Portuguese Government since 2015. He is Full professor at the Faculty of Economics and researcher at the Institute of Sociology, University of Porto. Being a member of the Portuguese Socialist Party he has held positions as Minister of Defence (2009-2011), Parliamentary Affairs (2005-2009), Culture (2001-2002) and Education (2000-2001). He is a Former member of the Project Group "Education for Democratic Citizenship", of the Council of Europe. He has published articles and books on political theory.
