Dr. David Fernández Puyana is a practitioner and international lawyer specialized in international human rights law, international relations, peace studies, United Nations and civil society movements. He is currently serving as legal assistant to the Chairperson-Rapporteur of the UN Open Ended Working Group on the right to peace at the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the United Nations in Geneva. As representative of UNESCO Etxea, the Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law and the International Association of Peace Messenger Cities, he has been the Director of the NGO Campaign on the Human Right to Peace for five years. He has also served as legal assistant to International Council on Human Rights Policy, the Catalan Red Cross and the Human Rights Office of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Spain. He advises the Foundation ‘Peace without Borders’, which was founded by the well-known artists Juanes and Miguel Bose, which aims to lay the foundation for lasting peace. He has been conferred the title Doctor in Law by the University of Pompeu Fabra (Spain) with the higher mark in May 2104.
