Nebojša Nešković, born in Belgrade, Serbia, graduated in engineering physics from the University of Belgrade and continued his doctoral studies in theoretical physics at the University. He completed his post-doctoral studies at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA and stayed at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Scientifiques, Bures-sur-Yvette, France for study. He was employed in the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, Belgrade, between 1975 and 2018. He was Director of the Laboratory of Physics of the Vinča Institute between 1992 and 2001, and Associate Director for Science of the Vinča Institute between 1999 and 2001. In the period 1991–2007, he was Head of the TESLA Project – the project of construction and use of the TESLA Accelerator Installation, which is a large-scale infrastructure for research and development in science and medicine. From 1996 to 2006 he was Director of the TESLA Scientific Center – an association of 15 scientific and educational institutions from South Eastern and Central Europe devoted to science and medicine with accelerators and accelerator technologies. He is member of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development of Serbia and Scientific Council of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Russia. His publications include two international monographs, and over 180 articles in refereed international journals and contributions at international conferences. He is a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science since 2006, and Trustee and Secretary General of the Academy since 2013. He is also currently the President of the Serbian Chapter of the Club of Rome.
